Computing Now: Peer-Review Rigor Meets Social Networks

چکیده

T he IEEE Computer Society (CS) recently launched Computing Now (CN; http:// computingnow.computer.org), a single portal for all 14 CS magazines. CN features individual articles; themes based on editors’ top picks, such as gaming or agile development; editors’ blogs; news feeds; and multimedia content, such as interviews, podcasts, webinars, and videos. CN is updated more frequently than magazines are issued, and users with IEEE Web accounts can comment on the content. CN is an attempt to expose the traditional peer-reviewed content you can find in CS magazines to users in the more collaborative style of social networks and Web 2.0. Our hope is to build a Web site that merges all the tradition and rigor of peer reviewing with social networks’ scale and dynamics.

A Sudy on Information Privacy Issue on Social Networks

In the recent years, social networks (SN) are now employed for communication and networking, socializing, marketing, as well as one’s daily life. Billions of people in the world are connected though various SN platforms and applications, which results in generating massive amount of data online. This includes personal data or Personally Identifiable Information (PII). While more and more data a...

DisTriB: Distributed Trust Management Model Based on Gossip Learning and Bayesian Networks in Collaborative Computing Systems

The interactions among peers in Peer-to-Peer systems as a distributed collaborative system are based on asynchronous and unreliable communications. Trust is an essential and facilitating component in these interactions specially in such uncertain environments. Various attacks are possible due to large-scale nature and openness of these systems that affects the trust. Peers has not enough inform...

P2P Network Trust Management Survey

Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...

Collection and analysis of multi-dimensional network data for opportunistic networking research

Opportunistic networks use human mobility and consequent wireless contacts between mobile devices to disseminate data in a peer-to-peer manner. Designing appropriate algorithms and protocols for such networks is challenging as it requires understanding patterns of (1) mobility (who meets whom), (2) social relations (who knows whom) and (3), communication (who communicates with whom). To date, a...
